Pont-Tech

PONT-TECH is the consortium for Industrial Research and Technology Transfer born in 1996 from a joint initiative of public and private subjects.

PONT-TECH is located in Valdera (city of Pontedera), one of the most important areas of Tuscany and of Central Italy  from an economic and industrial development point of view. The Valdera area can boast a secular industrial tradition, mainly in the mechanical industry. Piaggio (another founding partner of Pont-Tech) is the main industry in the area. Its rooted presence in the territory is evidence of the industrial vocation of the area and (but) profoundly marks the production system, belonging most of the companies to the network of Piaggio suppliers.

Pont-Tech plays a fundamental role in the implementation of a local economy based on knowledge and on actions for the promotion of industrial diversification through innovation. Economic Analysis, Technical Consulting and Training Actions are the main tools used by Pont-Tech for this purpose.

The physical proximity and the close relationships of collaboration between Pont-Tech and the Polo Sant’Anna Valdera – the laboratories in Pontedera of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna – are the backbone of a regional network of research centers, laboratories of excellence, business incubators, startups and spin-off companies.

In collaboration with a University and two Local Public Administrations, Pont-Tech promoted a Program for research and innovation in the local area. In accordance with this Program, Pont-Tech is taking care of the creation and subsequent management of a Research and Training Center on Innovation and Technology Transfer (CERFITT) that includes a new incubator for High-Tech and Spin-off companies.
